The Maryland Office of Tourism is an agency within the Maryland Department of Commerce. Visitors to the state spent $19.4 billion on travel-related expenses in 2022. The Maryland tourism industry also generated $2.3 billion in state and local taxes, essentially saving each Maryland household $1,000 in annual taxes, and directly supported Marylanders with nearly 124,000 jobs.
Destination Maryland Magazine & Map
The Destination Maryland Official Guide includes insider tips and regional articles that highlight the best parts of the state. Each year circulation reaches 250,000 copies, with over 121,000 sent to a targeted audience and distribution at Maryland Welcome Centers and venues like BWI International Airport. The guide is also sent by direct request to out-of-state markets including Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Ohio. The Magazine has helped increase tourism to the State of Maryland to a record number of 38.2 million visitors.
The Magazine is a 120-page and printed in full-color. Packed with national scenic byway themed suggestions, as well as regional listings of museums, attractions, history and heritage sites, arts and culture, parks, and outdoor recreation, the guide also includes editorial content about landmarks, food and cultural festivals, restaurants, shopping and wildlife.








Maryland Scenic Byways Guide & Map
The Maryland Scenic Byways guide and map highlights Maryland’s 18 scenic byways. These are carefully mapped driving routes into areas rich with beauty, history and culture with plenty to see and do along the way. Themed tours drive through mountain passes once traveled by American pioneers onboard Conestoga wagons; they follow city streets into grand and fashionable Central Maryland communities; they incorporate some of the most interesting neighborhoods bordering Washington, D.C.; they wind along country roads in Southern Maryland; and they urge you to make new discoveries on the peaceful shores of the Chesapeake Bay.
